How does Sex Rx + Hair Health work?

This compounded medication contains three active ingredients, tadalafil, minoxidil and finasteride

  • Tadalafil: Tadalafil belongs to a class of medications called phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors. These medications boost sexual performance by increasing blood flow to the penis. They work by blocking the enzyme that turns off an erection (phosphodiesterase-5).

  • Minoxidil: Minoxidil is FDA-approved for the treatment of high blood pressure. In low doses, it is also used as an off-label treatment for hair loss. Minoxidil works by boosting blood flow to hair follicles, which extends the hair growth phase and shortens the resting phase where strands are no longer growing.

  • Finasteride: Finasteride blocks the conversion of testosterone to its active metabolite, DHT. By blocking this conversion, finasteride decreases the level of DHT and the resulting hair loss it causes.

How to get the most out of your treatment:
  • 1

    Be consistent

Sex Rx + Hair Health should be taken at the same time every day. You may take it in the evening or in the morning, whichever is easier for you to be sure that you take them every day. If you experience mild lightheadedness, which can be a side effect of both tadalafil and minoxidil, take Sex Rx + Hair Health at night. If you experience severe lightheadedness, stop taking the medication and consult with our care team about whether or not you can safely continue the medication. It may take up to 5 days for tadalafil, the active ingredient that supports sexual function to build up in your system and start helping. Missing doses or taking Sex Rx + Hair Health at inconsistent times can set you back significantly.

  • 2

    Consider a practice run

Trying your first one or two sexual experiences on Sex Rx + Hair Health in a less pressured, more relaxed environment (i.e. during masturbation) can help you to understand how the medication affects your body and whether or not any treatment adjustments might be helpful before primetime. Sex Rx + Hair Health can cause small declines in your blood pressure that may cause dizziness, lightheadedness or even fainting in people sensitive to blood pressure changes. Be sure that you are well-hydrated and in a safe, controlled environment the first time that you take Sex Rx + Hair Health.

  • 3

Give Sex Rx + Hair Health a few chances

It It can take some time for your body to acclimate to tadalafil, the active ingredient in Sex Rx + Hair Health to support sexual function, so don’t rush to conclusions about whether or not it works. Things like alcohol consumption, fatigue, anxiety, and arousal can also affect sexual performance on any given day, even when you take medication to enhance sexual function. You may experience hair shedding in the first 2-8 weeks as beneficial hair cycling is triggered. This is normal and means that the medication is working. The full benefits of finasteride and minoxidil are seen within 6-12 months, but results may be seen as early as 3 months. Successful treatment is defined by both hair growth and hair loss stabilization (meaning hair loss isn’t getting worse), since male pattern hair loss naturally worsens over time.

  • 4

    Get in the mood

Tadalafil, one of the active ingredients in Sex Rx + Hair Health, works by enhancing and strengthening your body’s response to sexual stimulation and arousal. Some kind of mental or physical trigger is still required to kick off your body’s sexual response.

Can I drink alcohol while using Sex Rx + Hair Health?

It is OK to drink alcohol when taking Sex Rx + Hair Health, but not too much. Drinking more than 2-3 glasses of wine, beers, or shots of hard alcohol can increase your chances of headache, dizziness, fast heart rate, and low BP. Alcohol can also inhibit your erection.

Are there any dietary restrictions that I should follow while Sex Rx + Hair Health?

We recommend that you do not take additional biotin, which is often found in hair and nail supplements. This tablet was formulated with dermatologists who determined that biotin at a dosage of 2.5 mg is appropriate when combined with oral minoxidil. High doses of biotin (5 mg or higher) may interfere with certain lab tests, including specific tests to aid in heart attack diagnosis.

What if I miss a dose of Sex Rx + Hair Health?
  • Hair loss treatments work best when taken consistently to maintain progress.

  • If you stop treatment, your hair density will revert to what it would have been had your hair loss naturally progressed without medication.

Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

A literature review shows there may be evidence of increased depressive symptoms in individuals younger than age 45 while taking finasteride for hair loss. Patients with new or worsening depression should stop this medication and follow up with their health care provider or a mental health therapist. SOURCE: MEDPAGETODAY.ORG

Does finasteride cause prostate cancer or prostate enlargement (BPH)?

There have been reports of a slight increased risk (1.8% with 5mg finasteride dosage versus 1.0% placebo) of high grade prostate cancer for men over age 55 years old. These reports are from men taking a higher dosage of finasteride (5mg) than the dosage we prescribe for hair loss (1mg). There have been conflicting studies on the increased risk in the number of high grade prostate cancers; however, several recent studies have shown no increase in the number of deaths (with a recent study showing fewer deaths) in patients who use finasteride at the 1mg dosage.

Does finasteride change blood Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) levels?

Finasteride can affect a blood test called PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) for the screening of prostate cancer. If you have a PSA test done, you should tell your healthcare provider that you are taking finasteride because finasteride decreases PSA.
