What Hims & Hers does
At Hims & Hers, we provide a comprehensive, personalized approach to healthcare, connecting customers with licensed healthcare providers who evaluate each individual’s needs and recommend personalized treatment plans.
Beyond prescription medications, our platform offers access to ongoing clinical support and educational resources to empower customers to make more informed decisions about their health. Prescription decisions are made solely by licensed healthcare providers and are determined by ongoing communication between the customer and provider and an in-depth medical evaluation.
How it works
Each customer journey through Hims & Hers begins with a detailed intake process, similar to what they’d complete at an in-person doctor’s office. The intake collects information about their symptoms, health history, and treatment goals. Based on their responses, the intake may dynamically adjust to gather more details. Customers are also required to go through an identity verification process.
A licensed healthcare provider then reviews the intake, evaluates whether treatment is appropriate, and — if necessary — follows up to gather more information. The provider issues a prescription, which can then be fulfilled by one of Hims & Hers’ partner pharmacies and discreetly shipped to the customer’s front door.
Care is delivered asynchronously — through secure, back-and-forth messaging rather than a live video or phone call. This model enables the customer and provider to communicate on their own time, removing traditional barriers like commute time, appointment waitlists, or schedule conflicts. In some states, visits happen via live audio or video.
Customers have ongoing, unlimited access to their care team through secure messaging. They can ask questions, share updates, and get support throughout their treatment. Every provider on the platform follows evidence-based clinical protocols and is held to rigorous quality standards to ensure safe, effective care.
Educational content is available on the Hims blog and the Hers blog Customers can also download the Hims app or Hers app to easily message their care team with questions 24/7 and access a comprehensive library of expert-developed tools and techniques to support their health goals.

At Hims & Hers, we provide access to an extensive network of more than 400 U.S.-licensed healthcare providers in all 50 states. All providers are highly trained and rigorously vetted.
Because healthcare isn’t one-size-fits-all, we also have a medical advisory board of physicians, pharmacists, and advisors who assist in developing evidence-based clinical frameworks that align with modern medical breakthroughs and best practices. The expert advisory team includes board-certified professionals in dermatology, internal medicine, psychiatry, and pharmacy. The Hims & Hers care model emphasizes clinical quality, customer safety, and privacy. Experts in their respective fields regularly review clinical protocols and guidelines.
Founding story
Seeking care for sensitive health issues can feel intimidating, especially when it comes with high costs and long wait times.
Co-founder and CEO Andrew Dudum launched Hims & Hers to change that.
An entrepreneur with a passion for innovation and accessibility, Dudum previously co-founded Atomic Labs, where he and his co-founders focused on bringing truly transformational ideas to life across industries that were ready to be disrupted, like healthcare.
Hims & Hers started in 2017 with the launch of Hims, which gives men easier access to care for erectile dysfunction, hair loss, and anxiety. A year later, we expanded with Hers, a brand built specifically for women’s health needs.

While traditional healthcare settings may rely on a single provider’s opinion, providers furnishing care through the Hims & Hers platform can utilize MedMatch as a resource in addition to their independent clinical judgment to help them deliver personalized, high-quality care to everyone, regardless of their income, location, or condition.
Meanwhile, our proprietary Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system streamlines administrative processes and ensures seamless care transitions between providers.

2017
Hims launch
Andrew Dudum, Jack Abraham, and Hilary Coles teamed up to launch Hims in November 2017 with a simple goal: to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable to all.
The company focused primarily on men’s health, providing solutions for stigmatized conditions like erectile dysfunction and hair loss.
2018
Hers launch
Following the success of the Hims launch, Hers launched in 2018 with a focus on women’s wellness, and offering access to prescription birth control pills, hair regrowth medication, and skincare products.
2020
U.S expansion
Hims expanded its services to all 50 states, and the Ohio-affiliated pharmacy facility opened.
Hims & Hers products were also available for the first time in retail locations, starting at Target.
The company also established its first health system partnership with Ochsner Health and expanded into mental health.
2021
Hims & Hers goes public
Hims & Hers goes public via SPAC on NYSE: HIMS.
Hims & Hers acquired the skincare company Apostrophe and healthcare platform Honest Health in the U.K., which further expanded the company’s U.K. business.
2023
New capabilities
Hims & Hers expands personalized treatment plan offerings in sexual health, heart health, and weight loss.
With the launch of MedMatch, Hims & Hers introduced artificial intelligence and machine learning across certain treatment plans to provide options to providers as they identify the optimal treatment for a particular person based on millions of de-identified data points from millions of customers.
